Ana Rocha de Sousa is from Portugal, Lisbon. In 2010 she sold everything
and left a professional carrier as an actor in Portugal to study at London Film
School to become a film director. She followed her passion for film, developing
her skills behind the camera and completing her Master’s degree in London.
Along her path she directed fiction short films, documentaries and now she is
presenting her debut feature LISTEN.
LISTEN premiered in Venice, on the 77th Venice International Film Festival
where it won multiple official and parallel awards to the competition. LISTEN
is premiering in multiple countries across the globe and it is in competing in
the International Festival Circuit. Ana’s work is being nominated and awarded
Nationally and Internationally. At the moment, in Portugal, LISTEN is
nominated for 3 Golden Globes and 8 Sophia Awards by the Portuguese
Academy.
Her interests cross many fields. Photography, scenography, painting, acting and drawing are a genuine focus
to keep in her future works. Her aim is not only an artistic expression, it is also
to raise awareness for subject matters related to social and human rights. She
is devoted to create fiction based on true relevant matters with visual poetry
in contrast with the violent and brutal reality of life. Ana’s passion for
storytelling are the strong character driven stories.
